Income generation
Poverty is one of the main obstacles to ensuring children's welfare. Ethiopia is amongst the poorest countries in the world and past decades of war and the current HIV/AIDS epidemic mean that many of those of working age have died or are invalids and unable to earn a wage. In order for orphans to be looked after in their community it is necessary to enable extended families and potential carers to have the financial ability to do this. SMCF and JeCCDO aim to facilitate projects whereby community members and families can increase their incomes.
During the period 2007 to 2011 JeCCDO aims to enable a minimum of 2,000 households in Awassa to improve their income. |
