Urban Agriculture
Nobody illustrates the effect of urban agriculture better than Saba, who learnt how to grow vegetables in her back garden when she attended a training session organised by JeCCDO in Awassa. As you can see from the picture opposite, she learnt well. Now Saba is growing sufficient vegetables for her household and is also able to sell surplus at the market.
"Through selling vegetables I have managed to buy medicine that I need, I even managed to buy a new dress. The only problem I have now is my old age - what am I going to do about that?"ition of their household in an area where the diet was heavily meat based. The impact does not stop there; household kitchen waste is now collected for composting use helping to improve sanitation and hygiene.
