Health and Sanitation
JeCCDO works in Debre Zeit to ensure the health of the community is maintained and improved.
JeCCDO’s main focus is working to improve the lives of orphan and vulnerable children; to do this
effectively it is necessary to ensure that the children are growing up in a healthy environment.
Improving sanitation in the community is, then, vital to the children’s health and welfare.
During the period 2007 to 2011 JeCCDO aims to improve the health of
10,000 people in Debre Zeit
Sanitation
Lack of access to latrines can cause major problems for everybody in the
Community due to the risk of typhoid and cholera bacteria in raw sewage
and stagnant water. The latrines ensure that human waste is disposed of safely
and does not end up in water supplies or in the vicinity of young children.
Safe drinking water is also extremely important and JeCCDO works with local
communities to install standpipes.
