| Ade is only 7 years old. She has already lost most of her family to AIDS. Now all she has is her grandmother. SMCF provided Ade's sick and dying mother with vital home care. A carer gave counselling, washed, cleaned and cooked for them.
When only Ade and her grandmother remained, they had no money left and no capital to raise income. Instead of being forced to beg for survival on the streets, Ade receives £4 a month from SMCF to meet her needs, £1 of which is saved for her in a bank account for her future.
Ade is given a school uniform, educational materials and shoes so that she can go to school. Ade says
"I am happy I can go to school. I now have lots of friends."
Ade's grandmother was given a £33 loan to establish her own small cotton weaving business at home which allows her to generate income.
Now both their futures are secured. |
