Have you heard about Lucy?

Lucy was found in 1974 in the eastern part of Ethiopia. At the time she was the oldest remains of a human body ever found – she lived 3.2 million years ago!

Lucy probably died when she was about 20 years old - people lived shorter lives then. Not only that - they were shorter people, Lucy was only about three and a half feet tall! Look you can see how small she is in this picture compared to a normal size woman today!

Because of this find Ethiopia was called the birthplace of human beings.

Can you draw a picture of Lucy?

I'll help you out – she had long arms which she probably used to climb trees with and she was probably quite hairy (look at the picture above!)

Send in your pictures to us and we'll put the best ones up on our website for everybody to see. Have fun!
