Agricultural Training
JeCCDO trains local people in agricultural techniques that can be easily replicated in their backyards. From its agricultural centres it trains a number of people who in turn become trainers. Once trained these people then train a group of 15 others in the techniques they have learnt.
JeCCDO's agricultural training centre also teaches bee-keeping, and techniques for rearing sheep and chickens. JeCCDO gives each beneficiary two ewes, and one ram which is shared with 5 other households. After 2 years each person gives 2 ewes to further beneficiaries and teaches them the basics of sheep husbandry.
In three years the woman pictures opposite has raised 20 sheep, some of which she had kept for meat and some of which she has sold. |
